There has been a significant improvement at Arsenal over the last couple of weeks.
Things looked bleak immediately after the season restarted, but Mikel Arteta has begun to put his stamp on the team.
There are, though, still plenty of areas where improvement is needed. It remains to be seen which players will leave in the summer, and it’s also not yet clear how much money the Gunners will have to spend.
The funds available to Arteta are likely to depend on whether he can guide his side to European qualification.
Either way, Arsenal will need to invest shrewdly in the summer if they are to maximise their potential under their new manager.
Here is the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Arteta shuts down rumours of Tierney exit
Mikel Arteta has insisted Kieran Tierney will not be sold in the summer amid rumours of a move to Leicester City.
The 23-year-old, who joined Arsenal for £25million from Celtic last year, has struggled for regular game time this season having been sidelined by injury.
But he has caught the eye following the resumption of the Premier League, impressing at left wing-back in the Gunners’ back five.
Tierney has recently been linked with a move to Leicester as a possible replacement for Ben Chilwell, who is believed to be a Chelsea target.
“He’s not going anywhere,” Arteta said. “I really like him.
“I’m very impressed with him. Everybody loves him at the club and he earns that every single day with the way he treats people, the way he works and the energy he brings to the place.
“And then with his performances, I am delighted. He has adapted really well, he is a player that gives you everything in every session and every game. And the quality he has added as well.
“He’s still so young, he has things to improve obviously but he’s been a great addition to the team.”
Arsenal to prioritise signings of midfield duo
Arteta is determined to secure deals for Dani Ceballos and Thomas Partey as he looks to further improve his Arsenal team, the Times have reported.
Ceballos has impressed post-lockdown and the Gunners intend to keep him in North London on a permanent basis.
They want to add Atletico Madrid’s Partey to their midfield, too, and hope both players can take the club forward.
With doubts over the future of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira playing little more than a bit-part role this season, that area of the pitch is the focus for Arsenal this summer.
Reports in Germany claim Bellerin wants to leave Arsenal
Sky Deutschland have reported that Hector Bellerin intends to leave Arsenal because he is ‘not satisfied’ at the club.
The 25-year-old was reportedly a target for Bayern Munich, but the German champions have gone cold on him after his injury problems.
But Bellerin, according to Sky, is looking for a new challenge after nine years at Arsenal.
The Spaniard, who has been a regular under Arteta, was also linked last week with a move to PSG.
