Arsenal transfer round-up: Rival interest in Dominik Szoboszlai, Arkadiusz Milik latest

Arsenal may have got their first win since the Premier League restart against Southampton on Thursday evening, but the team’s flaws are no less glaring.

Much as Mikel Arteta needs a rebuild this summer, he could find himself working with limited resources. There are also big question marks over several players’ futures, not least Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi.

Given the financial implications of the coronavirus crisis and Arsenal ’s extended spell outside of the Champions League, it’s going to take a combination of masterful negotiating, clever budgeting and joined-up thinking to make the improvements that Arteta so desperately needs.

With that in mind, here’s all the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Milan could rival Arsenal for Szoboszlai

Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has scored 10 goals for Red Bull Salzburg this season

AC Milan could rival Arsenal for Dominik Szoboszlai’s signature, with his €24m (£22m) release clause well within their reach.

That’s according to La Repubblica, via Calciomercato, with his transfer fee to be paid in instalments over three years.

Szoboszlai, 19, has impressed for Red Bull Salzburg this season, scoring 10 goals in 37 appearances.

An earlier report from Calciomercato named Arsenal, Hertha Berlin, Sevilla, Lazio and PSG as some of the other teams interested in the midfielder.

Milik gets attractive offer elsewhere

Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered to double Arkadiusz Milik’s salary

Mooted as a potential replacement for Aubameyang should he decide to leave Arsenal this summer, Arkadiusz Milik has now got an attractive offer from Spain.

Napoli’s joint-top scorer this season alongside Dries Mertens, Milik has 13 goals in all competitions.

According to AS, Atletico Madrid have offered to double the striker’s salary in a bid to bring him to La Liga.

Napoli value Milik at somewhere between €40m (£36m) and €50m (£45m), despite the fact that he is heading into the final year of his current deal.

Barcelona and PSG want Guendouzi

Earlier this week Mikel Arteta refused to confirm whether Matteo Guendouzi would still be at Arsenal next season

As if Arsenal didn’t have enough to worry about already, Barcelona and PSG are among the clubs circling Matteo Guendouzi.

TF1, via Get French Football News, reports that he is in contact with Barca, PSG, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, with a summer transfer on the agenda.

Guendouzi was left out of the squad to face Southampton and Arteta failed to issue reassurances about his future when questioned about the decision.
