Is The Zombie Drama Returning In 2020?

One of the most popular Korean horror drama, Kingdom is soon coming up with its third season on Netflix. It has been adapted by Kim Seong hun, from the webcomic series The Kingdom of the Gods by Yang Kyung-il and Kim Eun-hee. It is a period drama that was first aired on 25th January 2019. The series has been highly appreciated for its political outlook and has been critically acclaimed. It received a decent rating of 8 out of 10 and grossed over 20 million viewership.

The series focuses on the crown Prince Lee Chang who has been elected to take hold of the kingdom after his father’s death. It is the aftermath of the Joseon period when life-threatening complicity has led to an unusual plague that turns humans into zombies. Chang tries his level best to understand the strategy and the people behind it. If he doesn’t do anything soon, then the plague shall bring every human in his kingdom in its clutches.

Is There A Release Date For Season 3?

Nothing has been revealed regarding the release date of  Season 3. It has not been renewed by Netflix until now. The second season was released in March 2020. Usually, Netflix takes a month or two before renewing a series after the release of its fresh season. One of the biggest reasons why it was not renewed is because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. All releases and productions have been delayed for the past few months until everything resumes to normalcy.

If the production of the series starts by the end of 2020, then we can expect to get a glimpse of the upcoming season by mid-2021 or by the end of the year. However, it is highly based on assumptions. We hope to get hold of further updates soon until then, stay tuned, and stay safe!
